Antidepressant making me hate everybody....is this normal?!

Question: Some antidepressants can make us feel more agitated.
When we feel agitated we feel more aggravated with others.
Maybe this is what you are feeling.
I don't think you hate everybody. Your tolerance is low right now. I am like this quite a bit of the time. Talk to your doctor about this. Best Wishes

No, this is definitely not normal. Have you told this to your doctor? Perhaps the dosage or medication is wrong. Antidepressants can be a wonderful addition to your life but it might take some experimenting with different ones/doses with your doctor before you find the one that works the best.

Some antidepressants have side-effects for the first few weeks or days (depending on the drug) that can make you feel more miserable than you did while depressed (hence, the risk of suicide when starting anti-depressants). If you've just started taking this drug (or recently had an increase in dosage), it may be a side-effect. This is still a reason to call the prescribing doctor and ask if this is normal.

If you're scared you might hurt yourself or anyone else, talk to your doctor ASAP.

No, it's not normal. That's the hard part of using these products. It's finding the one that works for you. Don't be afraid to go to a different doctor, if the one you are going to has not fixed your problem. My brother has been fighting depression and anxiety issues for that past two years. It has taken 8 doctors and trying I don't know how many different types of drugs. But, he finally found a doctor and a drug that works. Now he is back to normal and happy. That is why I said, don't be afraid to try another doctor because there are thousands of drugs out there and you have to find the right one. For some reason, doctors have a few of there favorite drugs that they typically prescribe, which may limit you as to whether their choice will work for you.

Well, that's a rough question to answer.

It depends on the medication you're on. You haven't told us which, so I will share my own experience with BuSpar.
BuSpar made me so angry at the world, I wanted to smash everyone and everything in the face as hard as I could. Every emotion I was supposed to feel was replaced by anger. Sadness, anxiety, happiness...nothing. Just sheer, horriffic anger.
I wouldn't say that it's "normal," but an expected reaction based upon the kind of anti-depressant you're using. I've found personally that this tends to happen more so with BuSpar, and Wellbutrin - as I've taken both and it had a similar side effect. Talk to your doctor about changing it, perhaps trying a different chemical composition (such as Lexapro or Cymbalta.)

just keep this in mind. anti-depressants work different for everybody and there (mind altering) drugs. so this very well could be possible its the anti-depressants. alot of people usually have to switch medicines until you find one right for you but i would call and ask your doctor for further advice.
