Celexa -- Now sleep problems?..?!

Question: I have been on Celexa for about two weeks. At first my dose was 10 mg for 1 week, then it was upped to 20 mg, now I'm taking 30 and she's eventually upping it to 40. Before I was taking this I had some trouble sleeping. Usually I got about 6 or 7 hours of sleep a night. Now that I've been on it I get about three hours of sleep and then I wake up. I had been previously taking melatonin and now it's not working anymore. My question is -- is it the Celexa or is it just me??

One side effect of Celexa is possible insomnia. What time of day are you taking the medication (the earlier in the day the better)? In general sleep improves after 2 to 4 weeks of starting the medication. If the sleep is not improving or worsening I would contact the doctor to consider changing medications.

the same thing happened to me. I started at 10 mg and thats when my problems started. I was only able to get about two hours of sleep before I would wake up. I just quit taking it (maybe not the best solution, but at least I can sleep again)
