I have been on Lunesta, Restoril, Ambien, Ambien CR --- Lunesta gave me a horrid taste in my mouth, Resoril did nothing, Ambien CR gave me amnesia, and Ambien LOL I can take it and stay up with no problem but if I lay down and all is quiet I can fall asleep quite well.

Try cutting back on caffine after 3pm, soft music, mediation, ask your doctor about regular Ambien (now in generic) Relaxation may be the key.

Good luck, I know even with the Ambien I still have days where I am up all night and can't sleep.

I have the same problem and i found out why that is because i think so much that my head goes crazy .I really want a solution.

Im guessing that since you get no sleep and you get tired through out the day you drink lots of caffeinated beverages so you can somehow function. If you limit your caffiene intake you have a greater chance of sleeping better. The medications you take to help you go to sleep but eliminate your REM sleep which is what your body relies on to process your memories and refresh your mind and body. If you have an unorganized sleeping schedule also would be a big problem as well Example : you sleep today at 11 P.M. and tomorrow you go to sleep at 4 A.M. then you try the day after to go again for 11 P.M. that wont work for you so try sticking to a certain schedule. I hope some of this advice helps you out and i hope you get a good sound sleep soon.

Yes! Self-hypnosis! You need to find a good hypnotist to teach you how once - you won't be able to stay awake when you try the techniques on yourself. It involves relaxing your whole body (like to the point that you cannot feel it) and then breathing very slowly through your stomach, there is imagery (picture yourself in a very nice, relaxing place). You really have to try it with a professional hypnotist (find one in your area) and then you can do it at home before bed.

Try walking before you retire. Maybe it's just stress. I like to have my quiet time before i sleep. Gives me time to unwind. If that doesn't help, talk to your DR. You can also try having a warm cup of Chamomile tea! You can get it at any grocerie store or health food store.

I haven't had any medication, but I do have the same problem. I don't get to sleep because my mind doesn't tell me I'm tired. I just don't go to sleep. It puts me in a dangerous daze though, to the point where I don't know if I'm dreaming or awake. I'm afraid if I'm going to do something bad, but I dunno. I just listen to music until I get to sleep. Just either soft jazz or classical. I suggest mozart, michael buble, rod stewart, norah jones, ect, ect, ect.

I asked a similar question the other day and someone suggested white chestnut, I think I might try it, I think there's a link from the answerer. I want to see what suggestions you get!
