My dr wants me to get on Wellbutrin...?!

Question: has anyone else taken it? If so, what was ur experience with it? I am 22 and have struggled with depression all of my life. I've tried prozac, paxil, zoloft...those are the ones that I can remember...and they altered my personallity and made me mean. I'm scared about taking meds anyway...but I'm tired of the emotional roller coaster rides. I'm tired of depression. My life is great, but sometimes I get so down, that I can't get back up.

My suggestion is to at least try it. You can always stop. Also, if you are getting these meds from a general practitioner, make an appt with a a psychiatrist. They can really get to the bottom of your depression. sometimes it can be contributed to something other than just depression. In that case, some other kind of meds can be beneficial.
When you begin any new medication, go into it free of preconceived notions or fear of side effects. Every individual is different. What someone else felt, may be completely different for you. Everyone has an opinion. You'll find that alot. You be the judge of what works for you.
Aside from meds, try exercise and having a solid schedule. Stay busy and take time to rejuvinate yourself. Like reading, yoga, taking a walk. And if the depression gets bad, find a local support group where you can talk about things. I've met a lot of supportive people that way. Good luck to you.

I have been on several anti-depressants and I am now on Wellbutrin XL for several months and it works well for me.
