What's the best medication for depression?!

Question: What are some of the negative side effects?

Answers: What are some of the negative side effects?

There are many medications, and many side effects.

It would be irresponsible for anyone to list them here because were all different and react differently.

You must visit your GP/doctor who may refer you to a psychiatric doctor. Both will come to a diagnosis, and then they can administer the safe and hopefully correct drug. Close monitoring is needed, esp at the early stage, to see if it is compatible and having the desired effect--it doesnt happen over night, as anti deps can take 3 weeks and more to make a dent in depression.

Good luck with it, and remember that you or whoever you are enquiring for, WILL overcome that rotten feeling. Be patient as it doesnt happen over night, despite people telling you that it will.

All the best

Sunlight.... tan?

Sex.

Baby.

Crown Royal

excersise

It very's for each person on the level of depression. You should really work with a psychiatrist on this rather then your primary because they are more knowledgeable on the meds

Sunlight...sounds stupid but it has been researched. I'm not saying to go lay out- but find an outdoor activity that you're interested in and it'll also help you take your mind of things.

my boyfriend uses one called flaxoteen.....I don't know how its spelled but thats how its pronounced

side effects are being irritable, hungry, tired, headaches and thats pretty much it

you really have to go to your doc though because there is a different kind of medication for every different person...your doc would know whats best for you : )

If all else fails smile : )

I have found that by finding something with-in yourself that makes you happy is the only med.'s that truly work. At-least for me.

I guess you asked for it

To be honest, your choice of medication is a very personal thing that really should be up to you and your doctor.

However, this is what worked for me:
Effexor XR.

I tried several anti-depressants and this one was a life saver. Side effects are different for each person. For me, they included occasional dizziness and occasional fatigue. I also gained weight.

Getting off the medication was brutal for me, and that is where I experienced the most side effects-- upset stomach, vomiting, dizziness, irritability.

But I have been off them for nearly two months and am very very happy. They helped me big time.

Acupuncture, and holistic medicine, forget the depression meds they only mask the real problem, you have to face to the problem to cure it.

try ST JOHN'S WORT no known side effects, over the counter drug you can get in health food store in Germany doctor's recommend it rather then anti depressants.

booze and broads

divorce

There is not a "best" medication for depression.

I think it really depends on the person and how ull react to it, i took wellbutrin for over a year and it worked pretty good

Listening to your favorite music

Always think positve

Exercise

Try changing your lifestyle. figure out what is making you depressed and find what makes you happy. do what makes you happy with the people that make you happy as much as you can...

p.s. zoloft

I used to read alot of positive and motivational quotes on the net. I still do. From my experience, the only way I can control my emotions is by believing in myself and being positive. No matter what happens in life, there is a reason behind it and it always makes us a better person than we are right now. And the more you love yourself, the more you generate positiveness, thereby preventing depression.

Also, find people you can trust and spend time with them. Mixing with good people can really help.

Prozac is most effective a lot of times, along with Xanax.
The girl a few post up who said her boyfrind takes Fluxotein, that is the generic for Prozac that most insurances pay for instead of giving you the name brand prozac.

Europeans have been using St. Johns Wort for hundreds of years and swear by it. I've used and found it a wonderful treatment for depression...however, it must be mixed (by the pharmaceutical company) correctly or it won't be as beneficial as it should be. It is also non-prescription. I used to get mine at GNC, however, they stopped carrying the brand that was recommended. I would suggest that if you can't find the right mixture of St. Johns Wort...you should contact your family doctor and ask him...don't go by what novices tell you online.

I agree with Don!!

For a non-medication remedy I like to go for a run, music flowing from my iPod.

:) If you need to, email me aaron_gecko@hotmail.com

try outreach programs and join organizations which would give you a more meaningfull purpose in life... you can also give alms to the poor and help as much people as you can, even in the littlest way possible, it always fills up the empty space in people's hearts. :) hope u shake that depression away, i also experienced that, and one thing i did through out highschool was to write in my personal diary, or scrapbook, i wrote everything that i wanted to write, no bars hold, then i felt more free, and it feels like ive taken some weight off my chest...

Beer.

Hangovers.

Jesus. No negative side effects.

Wisdom , none

eating healthy staying with people who love you and make you laugh and smile

bud light
poor driving
inability to determie who is pretty and who is a hag.
inability to know when you have had enough medication

the best thing i have found is to find things to take your mind off of everything. some people use tv, video games, outdoor activities such as running hiking, etc. but its best to find ways to stay busy without over dueing it. if it gets bad enough go see a doctor dont ask people on here. (unless they are doctors but consult your own physician first )
