Why do extraordinarily talented people?!

Question: Often have problems with mental health issues?

Answers: Often have problems with mental health issues?

People can become incredibly driven in one area, or just to 'succeed' in whatever way or to whatever level they perceive as being 'successful' through underlying issues, such as low self-esteem, perfectionism etc. A mental health problem may only become apparent to outsiders when the individual has attained the level of success they craved, but then discovered that it did not remove/resolve the original problem.

Big brains.

Fame seems to go to their heads....

i think its to do with one side of the brain being more developed than the other. my father is exceptionally creative and has an iq off the scale but he's not good socially. it's a kind of imbalance

Stupid people are too dim to know they have a problem.

It is that fine line between genius & insanity, probably because thier brains are constantly active

It's true and at the risk of being immodest, applies to me.

to become talented you have to be reflective on what you're doing, how you're doing it and what you need to do to improve it. To be reflective in this way encourages you to be reflective in other ways such as how you feel about yourself, what others think of you, what's the point of it anyway. If you're critical of your 'art' your very likely to be critical of yourself as well.

Also i guess devoting time to a passion means devoting less time to people so you'd get a skewed social life which can be stressful.

Schizophrenic and autistic brains are wired up completely differently- we still dont really understand it but they use parts of the brain 'normal' people dont really know how to use. So they can have some truly amazing gifts.

Hehe as a side note. Those who do well at a young age are usually under more criticism from peers or parents than an 'average' child. might lead to more self-doubt, low self esteem

It's the mental problems that cause them to think they're extraordinarily talented, not the other way round.

well god gives something, god takes something..
