How can I go about getting a injunction for my anorexia brother?!

Question: I wrote a week ago about my brother who was fasting without eating anything for 2 weeks.

He is a Christian and will only drink water. It has now been nearly a month and he has no signs of giving this fast up. My mum says he's waiting for an answer from God. We have tried telling him that thats not the point in a fast but he doesn't want to talk about it as he's afraid it will jeoprodize his 'fast'.

I think its time to get him some help, how do I get an injunction so e will have to be taken into the mental health ward near to us? He refused to see a doctor?

Have an open and honest discussion between your brother, parents and yourself and tell them how concerned you are about him. You need to let him know that you're there to help him through this crisis. Getting an injunction at this point will only alienate your brother and will ultimately shut down communication between you and him. Right now communication is your best tool. If you feel other people may have an impact on his decision to go in to treatment, then by all means get them involved. Look in the yellow pages for the nearest crisis hot line and keep that number handy...you will probably need to use it. Also, start looking for a psychiatrist preferably one who specializes in anorexia. If your brother is under 18 you can intervene now but if he's over 18 you're going to have to wait it out. Having those phone numbers ready will save you valuable time later. Good luck.

unless you get something illegal, you cannot get anything to inject him with.....unfortunately u.ll have to wait till the weakness gets the best of him or you can prove that he is a threat to himself, in legal terms.....the law, psych docs tend to see someone as a threat to themselves when they are attempting to hurt themselves physically........

Before you approach a psych ward why not talk to your brothers pastor. I assume he is affliated to a church if he's that strong in his faith. The pastor will able to talk to him about correct ways of fasting and praying.

That would be my first approach and failing that I would get him along to a doctor. A lot depends on your brothers age.

I have heard of other Christian doing a lengthy fast while waiting on an answer to prayer. But I would never recommend it and I don't think that God would either!
