i have too much time on my hands so i think excessively, too. this may sound morose but i have been down so many roads because of my depression (like short bouts in mental institutions for suicidal thoughts/attempts as a young teenager), and i think a big personal lesson of mine is to just accept the sadness and live with it. to just go with the flow of things and see what ends up happening in life. i would feel silly telling you to get treatment and to make lots of friends and develop interests and hobbies, because that's what everyone says, and honestly it just hasn't worked for me. i am truly bored in general with everything. the system, the people, the money. the things that help me are weed, music, and books. if anything, i like to learn through books. i can recommend some for you if you like, but you probably aren't as big of a weirdo as i am haha. i wish you well. you can contact me if you want.

yes, VERY SAD....

It sounds like you need to keep busy and find more friends. Take up a hobby or a job. Call up some old friends. Read a book. Exercise is great for mental health. Take a summer course at your local community college in something that you really enjoy - painting, cooking, music, etc.

I experience the same thing. It's a kind of loneliness. I think, for one thing, that you should give the psychiatrist another chance if it gets any worse. Beside that, try to find ways to channel it. Write or draw. Try to get out of the house- maybe go for a walk, or try to drive somewhere if you have access to a car. Just try to get your mind off of it, because otherwise you get really sad and down.

If you have to, find a distraction. When I was alone during winter break, I watched TV and looked at the Internet. Find something to keep yourself busy.

That happens to me sometimes I feel sad you could try to go out and take a walk and get some fresh air If you have a dog thats even better they make you feel happy! Its always good to have somebody waiting for you at the door waiting to greet you. That makes me happy or read a book that gets your mind out of things almost like if you were living what your reading. You could watch a funny movie that wil make you laugh and forget how sad you feel. Ive also heard that Omega 3s can help make you feel a little happier so try to get that into your diet too. Forget about your thoughts and worries and enjoy your life after all it is your life you deserve it.

Everything you said in this:
"perhaps im going to college next year and feeling nervous, perhaps its the lack of friends i have. whatever it is its dragging me down. when i'm with friends i seem to forget but when im alone the sadness starts kicking in. "

I'm not to the depression state yet, but I was at one point. It's a feeling of anticipation and anxiety for something that I don't know about. Also, I don't really like my job anymore and that sucks because I need money. I'm tired all the time too. And some more complaining: I don't talk to many people, so that doesn't help with the friend problem. And I'd really like a girlfriend, but the talking problem seems to prevent that.

what you just described including the lack of friends, im partly depressed because of it and you may be too. Its tough but we will get through it in time
