What natural treatments for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder have worked best for y!

Question: I snap a rubber band against my wrist when ever my OCD begins.

Answers: I snap a rubber band against my wrist when ever my OCD begins.

a drug from the docter called ANNAFRANIAL 25grams without it my OCD goes mental

My daughter gets 5HTP from the health food store. My brother also finds it helps with his depression and helps him sleep. I take Paxil but someday I want to go off it and when I do I am going to try the 5HTP. It is kind of scary, because depression is so awful and I don't want it to come back. It takes a while for things to work because they have to build up in your system, so you have to have a good emotional support system around you. Of course that always does help, doesn't it?!! Anyway, good luck.

There are no proven "natural" treatments for OCD, but make sure that is the diagnosis. Before doing anything, I would suggest visiting a different psychologist...it's really not a science yet, alth0ugh they love to pretend it is...

What works for me (usually, anyway. sometimes i have my problems.) is whenever I start an obsessive behavior I stop and close my eyes. I imagine what will happen to me if I don't do this. Will I feel physical pain? Will I be hit by a car. I think as LOGICALLY as I can.

A lot of the time, I'm able to stop doing what I'm doing. Of course, this is definitely not fool-proof, and it's NOT easy, since OCD is basically illogical anyway. But I also have Avoidant Personality Disorder and am not inclinced to see a therapist, so it's what I do to get through the day.

Not really a treatment, I suppose, as much as it is a way to cope without looking crazy in public.
