How would you handle this situation?!

Question: I know I'm clinically depressed. I have suicidal ideation that never goes away. This has been going on for 10+ years.

But, I don't want to do therapy because that just seems to make things worse . . . I start having blackouts and I actually become more suicidal. Medication also makes things worse, and I've tried many, many medications that cover the major "classes."

Still, people keep trying to insist on therapy and/or medications.

What would you do?

What would you do?

you need to find a good psychologist
NOT psychiatrist
a psychiatrist is gonna talk for 20 minutes and give you some pills
a psychologist is going to help you, and really take time to understand your problems.
You need to take good care of yourself
you should start excercising too and eating healthy if you dont
I know it sounds stupid and like it has nothing to do with it
but trust me youll feel alot better
you need to keep yourself buisy with good things
and if you have the mentality that no medicine and no doctor can ever help you
then that is how its going to be
give it a chance dont go into it with doubts
a healthy lifestyle and therapy will help you out alot
and if your psychologist decides to give you medicine
then you should take it and have faith in it

I just stay home in my own screwed up world and try to survive the best I can. Therapy didn't work on me either and neither did any of their lame drugs.

I would listen to what everyone else had told you. You need a therapist that is able to help you. Since it hasn't worked for you in the past, it is time to get a different therapist that you are able to connect with, trust, and are able to open up to.

As far as the meds, your doc just needs to keep trying. Years ago, when I went through my depression, I had so many side effects to many of the meds. Mainly dry heaves and dizziness. It took changing meds 9 times to finally find one that I didn't have side effects to and actually was therapeutic for me. It was a long and frustrating haul. I too, thought that nothing was ever going to get better for me. I just kept at it with the therapy and trying the meds and finally got better. I was on the meds for 5 years and I have now been off of them for 1 year and doing great.

Good luck...seriously!

Aside from these two options, there isn't much more that can be suggested that can be clinically significant. If your symptoms have been going on for 10 years and you have suicidal ideation, yoga and meditation won't work. I suggest you do a whole lot more research to find therapists that are compatible with you. Not all counselors fit with everyones personalities so you have to really interview them and feel comfortable. I wish you the best and hope you find the help you need.

I have had depression for as long as I can really remember, and I know what you mean by therapy making it worse, it does for me, too.
Have you tried meditation?
Make yourself a happy place that you can 'go to' in your mind.
Try to discover the source of your depression. Maybe if medication doesn't work for you its something in your memories? I'd try a hypnotherapist. Or, maybe its a past life/karmic thing. A hypnotherapist in past life regression can help you with that too.

My ideas might seem weird to some people, but they might be worth a try. Keep an open mind. You asked what I'd do. :)
I hope things work out for you.
