Why do people develop split personalities?!

Question: How does this happen? And why?

Answers: How does this happen? And why?

A split personality is not the same as multiple personality disorder. Split personality means that the person has split from reality.
Multiple personality disorder is quite different. A second personality will appear in order to protect the host from mental or emotional trauma, or perhaps to act out suppressed desires. Frequently, many different personalities will appear. Some of the personalities are aware of others, some are not. Some of the personalities get along with each other, while some of them hate each other. Usually, one of the personalities is suicidal. The other personalities sometimes try to get the suicidal one to commit suicide, apparently unaware that when one dies, they will all die.
Multiple personality disorder, also known as Dissociatve Identity Disorder, seems to be primarily an American phenomenon. Many people, especially Europeans, believe
that this disorder is merely an act. I am not one of them.
It has been estimated that one per cent of the American people have Dissociative Identity Disorder, and that about fifteen percent of patients in mental hospitals are DID.

usually people develop split personalities if they are GEMINIS or if they are a girl they might be on the whole menstrocycle thing

im in two minds about that

It is known as dissociative identity disorder.
The causes are not known but it is believed that it may be brought about by severe stress together with a lack of good parenting or child abuse and and a natural inability to discriminate memories from one's current consciousness.

Mostly due to a awful trauma when they were young they used to switch off to hide from what was happening at the time.
Some time they can grow out of it then again it can stay with them and suddenly rear up and change the person.
So act cautiously with people that may have it cos they need expert help

Severe trauma causes it, on top of a genetic predisposition to it. It's EXTREMELY rare...so incredibly rare, in fact, that if you think you know someone that has it, that you are wrong.

It's so that they can come on here and post the same old questions time and again under a multitude of names. They tend to suffer from O.C.D., BPD and Asperger's Syndrome and then spurn all suggestions that they seek medical help. Eventually they get taken away by men in white coats, never to be heard from or seen again!
