It can be but, most times it is caused by chemical imbalances and hurtful situations that happen to us during our lives. When we become emotionally over rot that we either become depressed or have anxiety problems or both. If they are inherited it is because of some deformed gene that is passed on, you would have to talk to a professional about that. Main thing is if you start feeling depress or anxious talk to someone, anyone. Bipolar people sometimes have problems with sexuality, they can't get enough of it no matter what. They are needing to feel and they use sex, even if they don't really want it. The biggest problem with that is STD's, aids, pregnancy, and running a marriage. If you think you might beginning to have problems see your family doctor, a counselor, minister, teacher or somebody soon.

Some are, some aren't. I do believe bipolar disorder can be genetic.
The tendency towards MI is inherited. Does not mean you will get it.
some are genetic..most are children learning the coping skills of the mental disorder because that is what they taught. Do not buy into the lie that because your father has something you will. Find out what his coping skills are and make sure you learn different ones outside of the bipolar disorder realm.
There are many mental disorders that are able to pass from parent to child. But there are also some that aren't. Usually if a parent has a disorder that can be passed they look into it for the children. Some that are are bipolar, ADHD, panic disorders. Now it doesn't mean because a parent has it the child will but there likely hood goes way up.
Sad to say but the reality is that mental illnesses and disorders can be inherited.
bipolar comes from a tragic event in one's life.
Some weaknesses and some disabilities and birth defects specifically spotted in the dna would or could be caused from heredity. And regarding weaknesses it doesn't mean it would become a health issue. It's better if we don't analyze people and put a name to what we "think" is their problem, it's dangerous to dub someone with a disease title. And, people's privacy should be respected without making any assumptions.
Not always but in many cases including me. I have it on both sides.
