Why can't I remember my childhood?!

Question: I'm sixteen and have major, MAJOR problems with memory. I literally don't remember anything from my younger years besides a few selective things that aren't even that interesting. People will tell me stories about me when I was younger, and I'll nod and smile and pretend to understand... but it feels like they're talking about someone else, because I don't ever remember doing anything they tell me about. I have to watch videos of myself to paint pictures in my mind, but that's all I have. I don't remember school or friends or events or anything. I pretend I do. All I have are pictures of myself - pictures I don't remember taking, of course! Is there any way I can fix this? I can't really remember anything from 13 and under.

Thanks!!!

The type of trauma that could cause memory loss would confuse the person you are today than you were before. Did anything severely traumatic happen to you..like the death of a loved one, someone you cared deeply about hurt you..that sort of thing? If trauma isn't the answer, it could be that your hormones are clouding your memory. You are at an age where your hormones will mess up your emotions. Maybe the way you remember your childhood is through emotions. Instead of visually remember your past, you feel it and then remember things that happened to make you feel a certain way. There are numerous ways to tap into your memory, but if you really want to try..get something that has a smell that will remind you..like your mom's old perfume. That might trigger a repressed memory.

Were you sick a lot as a child? The medications could have affected your memory. Either that or maybe you were abused and disassociated or you have a brain tumor.

write a diary about what you do everyday and take some pics and paste them below so you know what you are doing everyday and once in a while you can take them out to refer...
hope that helps=)

well i guess you could say im the same way, im 16 and i can remember a few specific events but i dont remember all that much. But my memory might be a little fucked up cuz i smoked pot for two years when i was 14 and 15, and ive been drinking since i was 12 haha, so that might be why

Who knows. Maybe your from another planet, got dropped on your head as a child and forgot that you were suppose to destroy the earth

What do you see when you close your eyes? And what about when you open them? How dramatic is the difference? We are entitled to our fantasies. Indeed, we really ought to see them as essential to our well-being. What's the point of a life without dreams? It's true too, that some dreams are best left unfulfilled. They are more enjoyable in the imagination than they would ever be in reality. Yet every so often, we have to get a little of what we want, if only to maintain the tantalising illusion that the rest might just be attainable.
