Answers: I am half native and my mom is a alcoholic and lots of other people on her side of the family are aswell.

i've lived on the rez. and seen it. i haven't researched this for myself but, a reliable source told me that natives lack an enzyme that helps to digest alcohol. it's heart-breaking, i think she may be right. it's not just alcoholism, but also a propensity for other addictions (potent painkillers). i think the lack of whatever digestive enzyme makes one more prone to snaking out, waking up and doing the same damn thing the next day. however...you can overcome, you're on the right track by posting your question. good luck.

Statistics seems to suggest this.

You say half native, would that be Native American??
It has been shown that some races have a lower tolerance of alcohol than others.
I am one sixteenth native American and have a very low tolerance (2 bottles of beer) will intoxicate me.
If you are worried about your own intolerance, then do not bother with alcohol.
