I am an adult now but was molested as a child. You would be surprised at the number of females sexually abused in your community. They just don't talk about it. Obviously since you posted the question you are seeking someone to talk with about it. If the abuser is not one of your parents then you must tell your parents about it. If it is one of your parents you must find someone else to confide in, maybe a school counselor or nurse. Nobody deserves to be abused and whoever is abusing you must be made to stop, no matter who it is. Please talk to someone.

I'm sure you are not the only one, many people just dont like to let everyone know...

People through that abuse will suppress the memory of it happening sometimes too. I was taken advantage of when I was 13, and I'm currently looking for help dealing with it 15 years later. I never told anyone about it (and many still don't know) for a long time because I thought I did something wrong.

Your in VA, I know your not the only one. The trajedy of sexual abuse is the secret. There are many people you know that have been sexually abused it is jut not a hot topic like a new car.

Some of those who have been, have not remembered it for many years. It was so traumatic that they hid it from themselves, or, they were so young that they didn't understand what was really taking place... Many probably don't recall it yet.
They often have many problems, without realizing why:

I'm not in Richmond, but somewhere in the middle of a cornfield in Nebraska. I was molested by a neighbor, and lost my virginity at 5. It seems throughout my life abuse has just followed me after that in daycare, home, and school. Little things like a doctor visit or shoes would result in horrible abuse, because despite being an IRS accountant, he somehow couldn't afford a $10 copay. It just irks me when I hear people talk about something really trivial and act like it is the end of the world. They just have no idea!

Then, I thought things would get better when I got a job at McDonald's at worked a few years to put money away for college. My dad got the whole balance in the account- 20k! He bought a car and some leather furniture. At least the couch I was raped on was finally gone.

I don't know if my rambling helped or not, but I feel better when I hear about others problems. It makes me feel somewhat normal. I highly suggest watching "Running with Scissors," if you haven't seen it yet. It is based on a true story, and made me feel much better about my dysfunctional semblance of a life.

Currently the stats are 1 in 5 females and 1 in 10 males are abused. I was sexually and violently abused by a stranger in an elevator. Also numerous men have exposed themselves or grabbed me. The elevator incident happened in Philadelphia.
