Question: I started to cut about 9 months ago.
I cut when im realy pissed.
so my question is what happens if i cut a vain?
I cut straight across the wrist. I dont cut deep down but im afraid that one day I will and cut a vain by accident.
could I die from it?
What should I do if I really do cut a vein?
I am trying to stop cutting. :/

It's very hard to die from cutting yourself. I wouldn't even say 1% of people who cut die from their wounds. You'd need to cut an artery. I know of someone (hello SG) who went in search of the artery and she couldn't get it, and she was definitely the most extreme cutter I've ever seen.
Cutting is a ***** of an addiction because you can mentally move on but you always have a reminder. Go to a walk-in counseling session, tell your family doctor, get a pen pal, talk to someone because it's hard to do it yourself.
i was/still rarely am a cutter, and what I've been doing instead is using a hair band to snap against my arm. it feels like cutting, but your not actually doing it so theres not chance you can die from it. yes you can really die from cutting a vein. please try to stop, its much easier to stop using the hair band and you won't run the risk of death.

And if you cut a vein, you can die from extreme blood loss. You can bleed profusely and you don't want that, so don't even think about it. If you would like to talk to me further please contact me.

i have many friends who cut.
they all have cut a vain and went to the hospital.
there is a great amount of chance that you will die.
the vain is your bloodstream so you will bleeed to death.
my advise; try to cut not your wrist
Can you die of COURSE!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no "trying to stop cutting" stop now or I will guarentty that you will end up in the hospital. That is all I can say to you.
hey dont take this as me bassing you for cutting. im not. but if your cutting, and mainly when angry i'd have to say from personal experience that it's probally more related to depression. if you can afford to see a psyc do so....it helps. if not you could try a free public clinic but they tend to be more judgemental and not as "private" about what going on with you. i agree with the previous answer as well don cut your wrist viens are close to the surface there, i used to cut my forearm, (sit in a char and rest your arms on the arm rest, the part where the hair is) would be much safer, and you still get the umm i geuss relief would be the word. but i also agree with the others it's good your trying to stop, and i reccommend stoping. good luck and best wishes to you.
