Question: My husband and I are still in shock but we need to everything possible to help him. How do I hire a full time ABA specialist? What do I look for? Do you know about a pay scale? Any information will be greatly appreciated. If you have not delt with autism in your life and you do not work with autistic children please do not reply. We are upset enough.

If there is a school in your area that specializes in autism, I would recommend contacting them, and they'll be able to guide you in the right direction of getting an ABA specialist.
If you're in Southern Illinois or the surrounding area, the Illinois Center for Autism is an amazing school for students age 3-21. http://www.illinoiscenterforautism.org
ask your doctor about people she/he suggest.

Go to your states disability website. They should have a listing for ChildFind or some similar agency. They identify children and connect them to the proper services. I work in special ed at a high school in AZ. The dept there is DDD (department of developmental disabilities) They connect families to speech paths, Occ therapists, etc. This is heartbreaking for you, but all hope is not lost. I work with several children with autism and the hope is there. It's a good thing that he's been diagnosed early, the sooner the treatment, the better the outcome. Good luck.
