Depression question?!


Question: is there a website other than webmd.com that has like a test i can take to tell wheather i have depression or not? ive taken one on webmd, it says i may be suffering from major depression but i want another source. and i would go to my doctor, but no insurance and my parents would probably just tell me to get over it. or does anyone here have some questions?

I think depression is real and its hard. I've had my fair share of battles with it.

Yes there is a social stigma especially being a guy and all...I hate all the typical guy stereotypes...that we are so strong physically and emotionally even reckless, have no feelings, and behave in daring, risky, careless ways and are animalistic or machine-like. And live without thinking of consequences. And if we don't act this way, we are considered wusses and chickens and wimps. This is royally unfair, but so are many of the ways of life. Yes I'm sure there are many guys out there like this, but to presume that we should all be like this is beyond ridiculous. Anyways, so....

This is why we hold our feelings IN and create these walls and further isolate ourselves. We fear others and their ability to hurt us, so we don't open up to them emotionally. And we never say how we feel because of the fear of backlash/ being considered feminine/ chicken.

So we are considered the strong silent type. Yet, there is nothing strong inside our silence, just fear, pain, and a desire to be strong to let our woman know we will defend her from everything. So I suppose that is that, but the truth is depression hurts. It hurts bad.

You don't want to wake up in the morning. You have no appetite. You are reduced to tears easily. You don't want to comb your hair or shave. You don't smile or laugh much. You udon't enjoy anything. You want others to feel what you feel, so you hurt them, yet you derive no satisfaction.You can't fall asleep or wake early in the morning. You have no sex drive. etc...

The truth is medications helps...but you have to try several to find the one that works for you and meds take time to work (at least 2 wks). We have an aversion to (a dependence to) meds and so try to tough it out (like Tom Cruise says lol) but we struggle and really need that social support where someone LISTENS to us and tells us rational, logically things to do and let certain things go, They help us realize the past has happened and it has definetly changed us...but that we must move on or we'll fall behind everyone else.

So social support is the key, I think. Meds helps you get to the social support or help during the inital timing of social support, but meds don't address the issues. Talking it out and recognizing that its all over is the key, though.

YOU DIDN'T SAY HOW OLD YOU ARE IF IN SCHOOL TELL NURSE IF OLDER TELL FAMILY DR NOW SO HE CAN GET YOU ON SOMETHING FOR THE CHEMICAL IN BALANCE IN YOUR BRAIN , ALWAYS TELL SOME ONE THAT CAN DIRECT YOU TO THE PLACE TO GET HELP AND THERE'S ALWAYS MENTAL HEALTH WORKERS AT THE HOSPITAL

Try talking to a school nurse or guidence counsler. You should not go this alone.
