Is ativan the same as klonapin?!
Question: I use ativan as needed for my seizures.
my friend is a social worker and mentioned that one of her clients (drug addict) stole klonapin from the med closet. and that she (the client) claimed to use it to control her seizures...
my friend said that klonapin is the same as ativan. i told her it wasnt otherwise my neurologist would have given me an option to use that or ativan...i have had epilepsy for years,
so i am wondering the difference between the two and if many or any people can use it to control her seizures. i think the client is using a seizure disorder as an excuse to take the drug for her addiction.
it kind of annoying that she is trying to tell me about my seizure meds when she has only had a year experience about meds.

Ativan is the fast acting version of klonopin. Klonopin usually lasts 10 to 20 hours but takes a while to kick in where ativan doesn't take very long to kick in but doesn't last long either.
Hi--No Klonopin is very different from Ativan. Klonopin (Clonzepam) is a benzodiazepine, used to help anxiety. Ativan is used to treat ADHD. Very different medications.
Ativan is in the same group as Xanax it is an anxiety drug like Xanax it kicks in quick but you may need more than one a day it is your Dr.'s decision. Klonapin takes longer to work I tried it didn't like went back to Xanax as I have high anxiety Sounds like this other person would steal anything she thinks is a tranquilizer most addicts don't care as long as they get high on whatever their choice is. And the person that said Ativan is only for ADHD is wrong it may be used for it but it is for anxiety.
