Fear of being wet: How to get over it?!

Question: I have a fear: being wet. (Not to be confused with the fear of water.) I don't know why I'm afraid of being wet; it's just an irrational fear that I have.

Any tips on how to get over this irrational fear would be appreciated.

I was just studying this! The best way to get rid of any irrational fear is to find a psychologist who can administer Graduated Exposure Therapy. It involves gradually getting closer and closer to the feared thing, so seeing a picture of someone getting wet, actually seeing someone getting wet, getting your finger wet, etc. If done right, it usually leads to, for example, people who were previously terrified of snakes being fine with snakes hanging out in their lap.

lol i couldnt help but laugh. does that mean you dont wash yourself? it is totally irrational. see a hypnotherapist or psycotherapist and try and get rid of that fear.

ask yourself why do you fear it and when did it start?to overcome it....maybe just get wet....good luck!!:):)

Tell somebody bigger than you to throw you in a pool, no matter how much you fight!

the best way to overcome a phobia is to face it or see a counciler i used to suffer agoraphobia i went to a counler and i was shown how to face my fear and i did it
good luck

Sounds like you have may have a phobia. Try to expose yourself little by little making goals to increase your exposure to becoming wet, by doing this you will see that you will not be harmed and hopefully your anxiety will be diminished in time.

the fact that you recognize it as a irrational fear make the battle half won. you need to deal with it one step at a time. put a drop of water on your finger tip, repeat and so on till you can submerge your hand into a bowl of water.once you can that your fear should begin to subside.

just make sure you always have a towel with you.
