Yes I can relate. And usually it is so crucial to get the sleep and then you can't get any. Errrg. The long hot bath, candle light, soft music, and chamomile tea (Sleepy-time tea) or warm milk. When you are in bed, lying on your back in a dark room, rest your hands on your stomach in the area around the belly button. Eyes closed, feel how your hands rise and fall on your stomach as you breath in and out. Keep observing this for a long while as your breath becomes deeper and steadier and quieter and your hands keep rising and falling on your stomach. The idea is to keep your attention on feeling how your hands are rising and falling in response to your breathing and not on other thoughts.
This is a form of meditation. Let it go on until...... zzzzzzzz....

Ambien works wonders see your doctor, as this is a prescription sleeping drug

I have a problem going to sleep every night.. It's 12:30 am here and I'm not even tired yet. They say if you relax your mind you fall alseep faster, warm milk, hot bath.. and so on.. Nothing works for me.. Good luck.

---About aboves post about Ambien.
It's a sleeping pill yes. But use with caution. I've known many people who have actually taken one more than supposed to and died in their sleep.

I have always had a sleeping problem even now i don't go to sleep tell 7 in the morning at times, mostly because i want to though.
but you can go to a local drugstore and get some sleeping pills.
unisom seems to work best for me

My doctor suggested I take a Benadryl tablet at least an hour before going to sleep. She said it was safer than sleeping pills. Try drinking chamomile tea, warm milk or even playing relaxing music. I have a CD with waterfall and nature sounds that help.

Take sleeping pills!

Or write in a journal before you sleep. It will help you release all those worries. I have trouble sleeping too and this is the best advice I could give you.

take a nice hot bath (not shower) before bed and just take some deep breaths and relax. Everything will be ok i promise. Long hot relaxing baths are said to take off stress like a whole weeks vacation. Add a scented candle or two and put out the lights as well, bright lights in the bathroom are not the right relaxing enviroment for a long bath.

See insomnia treatments, in section 3, at ezy build, below. Use one of the relaxation methods, in bed, after lights out, on pages 2, 11, 2.c, or 2.i, but they can take some time to learn, (progressive muscular relaxation excepted) so learn and become proficient in their use during the day; an alternative is to use the EFT, in section 53, and pages 2.q, and 2.o, saying to yourself: "Even though I currently have a sleep disorder, I deeply and completely accept myself." (or choose your own wording) while you use the acupressure tapping. Find out which works best for you, in the daylight hours, so you will be prepared, come bedtime. For many people, a good idea is to develop a set "wind down" routine for the last hour before bedtime, so your unconscious mind learns that it is time to put thinking aside, and prepare for mindfulness, (awareness, without cogitation/purposeful thought) or the EFT, in preparation for sleep, but the idea with mindfulness is to not even think about sleeping: just drift off, naturally, during exercising those techniques. http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris

try writing in a journal for about 10-15 minutes before you go down. Getting your thought out of your head gives you less to think about. And lay off the caffeine.

I have insomnia and it can be made a lot worse by stress. I know when I am worried, it is so much worse. I don't like to take prescription meds so I have really read a lot about natural herbal remedies. http://www.womans-health.net/InsomniaHer...
I feel that natural remedies are so much better for us. I think it is too easy to get addicted to prescriptions. I hope that you find something that works for you. I know how frustrated I was until i got this under control.

Hello Rachel

I experience the same problem. Tired and must sleep before work at 11PM.

My mind runs 100 miles a minute. I started counting from 99 to 1-over and over again. When I'd come to a number that reminded me of something my mind would trail off again lol So, I started imagining the numbers, that actually helped a lot!

Try a hot bath with peppermint or Epsom salt as well...that relaxes your muscles. Try flipping your mattress too.

Good luck to a restful night

i have some sleeping pills called "melatonin" the brain natrually makes this but some people cant use it well so they take the pills! but im in england dunno if u get in america!

yes u could rite them down before u go to bed or u could just go "ahh f**k it wateva happens happens i'll just try to do everythin rite!" lol
