Self harm(cutting)?!

Question: I have been cutting for 4years. I'm talking to my best friend. Who has been there for me a lot. I have not cut in 3weeks. I have been really stressed out and depressed. I'm starting to want to cut again. Can you give me a list of things I can do with I feel like this? Try and be nice. I'm getting help.

Just think of the so many who care for you!
Me and many other contacts!

I personally have prayed for You every night for over 2 months!

I have faith you will stop this soon!
Again, I Pray! xo

Jessica, Thank you!
And again I pray!

You are too good for this!
So Bright and so caring!
Brother, cats, sisters, Mom, Dad!

If there is a really "too heavy" weight on your young shoulders, Talk to someone!
YOU cannot take care of ANYONE, unless YOU TAKE CARE OF YOU! FIRST & FOREMOST!
It is impossible!

Please Jess, Once you love you, you will know WHY you do what you do, and for who!
Please take care, Sweetie! Hope you are O.K.!

It depends what your triggers are. Once you figure that out, it's a lot easier. Find out what stresses you and find a way to counteract it. If it's bad thoughts about yourself, think of 5 good things about yourself. If it's stress, find a way to relax (like a walk). And talk to this friend. That's great that she/he has been there for you.

i dnt kno but i wish i did! i have the same prblms! and i hope u stop! i wish i culd!!

I am sorry to hear about you cutting yourself. I know it's hard to keep from doing it but hopefully these things will help you in some way. Try exercising like running or jogging. You can even do aerobics, kick-boxing, boxing, karate or something that will help relieve stress. That is such a big step in getting help. You are already beginning your step to a new you!

try running it helps fight anxiety and depression by releasing endorphins, but you will need to eliminate the source of the stress's if you want it to end, or at least decrease the amount of stress in your life. If you need try talk to a therapist

I used to cut pretty badly. Actually, i cut REALLY badly. This is what I had to do to rid myself of the habit.

First, I gave ALL my razors away. I know, there's knives and other things but, I preferred razors and without them, the urge wasn't satisfied as often.

Then, I got a BUNCH of rubberbands and put them on my left arm. EVERY time I felt like cutting, I pulled one back as far as I could without breaking it and snapped it. It's almost like cutting without the scarring and bleeding.

It took me a while to grow out of it. Right now, I haven't cut in 8 months and I'm quite proud of myself. The urge does arise at times and its still hard for me to not cut when things are going badly..

I hope you get over this.

There is a list of things in section 16, on self harm, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris Contact them, too, when you get the urge to cut.

Check off each hour/or day you don't cut, writing it down on paper makes a stronger impression
BTW: good job on the three weeks - you can do it!
Scrub the walls or exercise byojd the hurt. -That's what my dctr said. Or run till you feel like you'll drop- those ways, the urge willll go away since you pyhsicallly got the frustaration out (like cutting, but not harmful)

Running.
Meditation?
and NOT listen to sad music.
That's what I use to do.

Call your counselor or your friend and tell them you need help. I haven't cut myself in almost a year. When I get upset it's still the first thing I think about, but I have alot of support, even from people who don't know about my problem, but are just good friends that I can talk to. I know what you're going through and it's hard. It's good that your talking to a counselor. Use your counselor and friends as much as you can!!!! Good luck.

What can you do tonight to feel better?
Just realise that people/ strangers are reading you're question, taking it seriously and taking the time to answer it. Surely that must make you feel better!!

Reduce the amount of stress in your life, and keep positive. It seems like this is what makes the cutting more desirable, when your under too much turmoil.
If you have already made it three weeks, then you can keep going and fighting the urges not to cut yourself anymore at all, ever again.
write your feelings down, call a friend, do not be alone, read a good book, watch a funny movie, listen to music, house clean, do something to help some else out, do anything that takes your mind off your feelings or urges to self harm. the more you resist the temptation the easier it will be for you in the long run.

there are other ways to quit cutting. my friends had to help me with this, they gave me a hair band with the metal clasp on it so i would snap that on my wrist and it hurt. there are more option than cutting. find something that you like doing. for me i started getting a passion for art and thats my self expression. councelors don't always help in my own opinion or at least they never helped me. they just made me feel like hell. if you like splattering paint or sketching, try art. learn how to play guitar or something, sing your heart out, drown yourself in music. hang out with friends that are bubbly, have fun. there are better options than cutting.

You have been three weeks with no cutting. That is a good thing. Use that as a reason to help others who have the same problem. Let your knowledge help those get past those hurdles. It takes just one step to keep moving forward.

Honestly writing helps me a lot. I write down everything I feel or/and thinking and it really helps. It doesn't always help me from doing it but a lot of the time it does. finding something i'm really into is going full speed with it helps. Listening to music. Probably all things you've tried to do.
