i felt the same way before! and the only way i could find to get rid of it was to go to a therapist. i know, i didnt like the idea at first and i didnt think i needed it, but once i got there the weight was lifted within one session, it costs money and you should make sure your insurance covers it but you will be happy you did it!

run or read. or get laid a lot

the feeling of a 'weight on your chest' could be a symptom of a panic attack. just an anxiety reaction that is safe, but uncomfortable. i think it'd be a good idea to talk to a friend, pastor, or counselor about your stress. you could also try paxil or zoloft which both work for anxiety.

Meditation. Not the "commercialized" meditation, but read a little on Zen, what it is, what it means.... and see if its something you are interested in. Helps me every day. That - or you could work as a consultant, travel for a living, and just get used to all of the stressors of travling and see how ridiculous fighting battles you can't win really is. Eventually you surrender to a meditive state. "I missed my plane? Oh well, there will be another one..."

30 mins out of everyday to do something you enjoy or something that completely relaxes you so you can clear your mind. it works for me.

Ok, I know it sounds hooky, but here goes. I seriously have a fountain in my room, and it's not a tiny battery operated one, it's good sized. I listen to that, use a relaxation tape that I transfered to my mp3 player, have a train load of candles and use deep breathing exercises from that relaxation tape which I have learned to take with me for everyday use under pressure. I am not the Yoga type but a few of the poses really help me unwind my body. I keep cards in my wallet (yes really) that have positive reinforcement sayings and I use them. I suffered severe anxiety for a long time and I don't Ever want to go there again, so I keep myself calm with these techniques and I keep them in mind all day when that feeling starts to creep up over me. I also use aroma therapy and have lavender in my purse, and lite grapefruit from the health food store. These things help me, I hope you give them a try and add some of your own too. Good luck getting a grip on these emotions, you are the boss of you and your mind and you and only you are in control.
