I know it's hard but know that your past will keep you for having a great future. Live for the "right now" and not for the "what has been." People love to bring up your past and just remember you change daily and that is something that you "used to do." You are a new person with a new beginning. Make 2008 be a year of forgetting those things that are now behind you.

A really good Question.

I regret, with respect, I do not have the answer to this...but I too wish I knew how to do exactly the same. I hope you find a way, best wishes.

You don't really want to do that. Even if you can't remember, there are deep parts of your brain that do. They make you act out your pain even if you don't consciously remember the things.

I suggest you talk to a therapist about the things that are bothering you. If you talk about them enough maybe they won't matter any more.

Yes you can. Its called dissociation. Its a coping mechanism that's triggered after traumatic events, but there are ways you can invoke the response yourself and literally dissociate/detatch from memories at will.

You can't make yourself forget... and trying to make yourself forget only makes you think about it... you should see a psychologist, they could get you medication to make it less hurtful to think about those things... i take xanex...
