Talk through with your doctor exactly how you're depressed and he'll prescribe them without a diagnosis.

You need to be diagnosed. Just go to a psychologist/doctor who will refer you to a psychiatrist and they'll give you the anti-depressants if they find you needing of them.

If you are truly depressed...your family doctor will recognize the symptoms and prescribe, and / or refer you to a specialist.

Talk to your family doctor. If he feels you need to see someone else, he will refer you, but more than likely, he will write the prescription himself.

Please make sure this is really what you want to do. I was on Paxil for years, and I thought I would die when I was trying to get off the drugs. The sexual side effects are aweful... it's just not a good feeling. I've decided that I feel much better as myself then I felt as a Paxil addict!

Yeah, go to see someone who knows what they're talking about. There's lots of crap talked about SSRIs and you need to understand what they're going to do and when. This is a great forum for many Q&As, but I'd seriously think about going to see a doctor you trust to get advice on which treatment is best. Most of the drugs have other effects and interdependencies that you need to understand. Also, you'll need a fair amount of support when starting a course.

Really though, don't just buy them online or wherever...

You need to be diagnosed as such. You certainly dont want to take them if you dont need them. Most of them cause you to gain weight. That is, of course, until you tweak your meds to get the exact one that is right for you. St. Johns Wort is an herbal alternative that you can pick up at any Vitamin Shoppe. Hope this helped. Good luck to you.

you need to be diagnosed by a doctor

U can usually just get them from the family doctor....or u can find them online.... id go with the doc though....
