How to calm down...?!


Question: Sometimes I get really, really irrational and upset over nothing (especially at night...? Don't know why) and start fights with my boyfriend about the most stupid things. Anyone have any advice for helping me just...calm down enough to think?

Walk away, count to ten.
Tell him to give you a few minutes and go punch a pillow.
Yell into a pillow.
Put a glass in a bag and crush it with a hammer.

get drunk

Buy a fountain.
They're not very expensive and you can get them at Wal Mart.
Listen to it while you write down things that make you angry.
Do this for about 30 minutes and decrease your time slowly everytime you do it.
Eventually, you won't feel the way you do anymore.
After you're done with the list, you can burn it, rip it up, flush it down the toilet, etc.

Try relaxation techniques on a daily basis (meditation is a good one). If you can sort through your thoughts on a daily basis so they're not flying around in every which direction it will help a lot. Second, build confidence and esteem and you'll be more secure with yourself on top of all that. Win-win situation.
