Might I have clinical depression?!

Question: Lately, i've been very frustrated with my life. I find it difficult to stay motivated. I can't find a job. I've been dissatisfied with my body shape and size(ectomorph-very skinny!!)for a long time. I'm not doing as well in school as I want to. I also have scoliosis that may require surgery. And nowadays, i'm always angry. I never get enough sleep, and im always sleepy, can't concentrate, can't remember. I like to write music, i'm interested in acting, but i dont even know what my lot in life is sometimes. It seems like everything bad is happening to me at once. Do you think i just have a classic case of the blues, is this some kind of adolescent brain transition(I am 17), or could this be something more serious?

i'm not a doctor, so i'm not trying to diagnose you. but it sounds to me that you may have clinical depression. i have been depressed for years (since i was about 16 and i'm in my 30s now) and have been on and off 5 different anti-depressants. I have also been in therapy for years. Sometimes i feel that i could write a book on depresssion. SO, i think it would be worth your while to talk to someone. a school counselor would be a good start. also, at 17, your hormones are still changing so that is not helping matters. please know that you're not alone in being depressed. just talking to someone may help a LOT! good luck to you.

Hard to tell if it's situational depression or a chemical imbalance. I've found that chanting helps.
