How to not get so nervous around people???!

Question: I don't need any "help" or anything like that. It's a normal, aggravating problem that I can't seem to shake off. When I'm around or talking to other people (no matter who), I tend to get really nervous about what they think about me or if they think I'm an idiot. I tend to shake a lot unconsciously, as well.

What's a way to remedy this? It's not about self confidence; it's about self assurance.

Thanks.

I'm having a similar problem as well. My self esteem isn't the highest thanks to some social awkwardness and acne. I feel as if I have to make the perfect impression or I fail as a person.

I'm learning that this isn't true. When you talk to people, just remember that making a good impression isn't as important as say, taking part in the conversation. As long as you're enjoying yourself, who cares what others think?

It's all mental. Think positive, and you'll be surprised how much your thoughts change.

It's social anxiety disorder. I have it too.

I have an anxiety problem and sometimes I get shaky and distracted about what people are thinking while I'm talking to them, it sucks! If you don't mind taking a medication, you can tell your doctor this and they can prescribe you a medication that chills you out. Otherwise you need to get in the habit of just CHILLING OUT when you talk to people.

Having experienced this daily for my entire life, I know that my fears and emotions are unwarranted and most people actually think I'm pretty cool. Try your best to just chill. Nobody can make a bigger difference than yourself.

Think of it this way: People have too much on their minds to zone in and think about you alone. What's worrying you is more than likely worrying everyone else, but they are keeping a postive (or at least "fake") attitude to hide it. Loosen up, take a deep breath, relax, and think of positive thoughts (even humorous ones if it helps).

I used to have a really bad problem with that.
it started out with depression when i was around ten years old (no kidding) and escalated to not feeling comfortable with talking to people and social situations. this included phone calls.
i still hate them, but i can bring myself to call someone if it is necessary.
eventually, an anxiety disorder formed and i couldn't even walk around a store without having a panic attack.
my mom realized my disorder, and took me to my doctor.
he put me on paxil, and i feel a lot better now.
the only bad thing is that if i forget to take it, i get very emotional and have bad withdrawl effects.
good luck with your problem. :)
