Think I'm depressed.?!

Question: I think I might me depressed. Here's whats wrong.

- I feel guilty about everything
- I feel alone
- I feel sad all the time
- I'm always tired
- I can't concentrate on anything. I have to will to do anything
- Lately I feel fat (I think I am, 107llbs for a 5'2" person) and feel terrible when I eat anything
- I'm not very popular so it makes me sort of sad

I don't want to tell my parents how I feel. They won't believe me because I try to act happy in front of them. I've only told my best friend but as it is she doesn't understand, she thinks I can just smile and act happy and I'll be happy. But that doesn't work. What can I do? What do you think is wrong with me?

I'd have to know you better to say. I'd guess that it's a mix of several things though.

Teenage hormone highs and lows have the side effect of making depression worse, and emotions run hotter than normal.

You haven't learned any ways to deal with stress effectively, because no one teaches that any more and it's not something any of us just KNOW. So you're sort of left on your own to sink or swim, and it sounds like you're sinking.

And... if you aren't telling your parents how you feel, they aren't helping, which you STILL expect them to be able to do, so you're disappointed.

I'd suggest EITHER you find a way to see someone such as a therapist who can help you learn ways to cope with stress so you feel better OR you get yourself a few self help books that will teach you ways to cope on your own. As a 3rd thing, you could go to web sites like dailystrength.org or here and find advice on ways to deal.

If it was up to me, I'd start you off with a good all around self help manual THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING by Norman Vincent Peale. Your local library should have it. Follow the mental exercises in it EVERY DAY and you'll feel amazingly better in a few weeks.

What are you depressed about ???
Sounds like you have a negative thought pattern.
Go see a counselor and learn to be positive.
Good luck.

you could be situationally depressed (goes away) or chronically depressed (never goes away) either way, you should talk to someone. start with your high school guidance counselor. they can refer you to someone

I'm going to guess that you might be another "low carb diet" casualty.

First, 107 lbs at 5'2" is NOT FAT.

Second, if your parents are halfway normal, they would want to know that you aren't having a good time of it, so they could help you (I'm a parent, and stay closely in touch with my son's psychological state). But If your parents are not supportive, then find someone who is.

be up front with parents and tell them that you need help and tell them what you said here,,,your depressed and you need help tell them to take you to family Dr, if that don't do it ask to see the school counselor you have a chemical in balance and need help tell your teacher, any adult your hurting and my heart goes out to you,, now go get the help you need

Depression can come from varied suggestions. You do
have some of the signs of depression that you have listed.
Depression can come from your mental aspects, and it can
come from physical problems. You should have a blood count check, and you need to review what vitamins you take.
Vitamins are just as important as any depression pills.
If your symptoms continue I would check with your family
doctor. Do something that you have been meaning to do,
like go shopping, visit with a distant friend, go to church
and review your faith, and study your friends. Friends
can have alot to do with mental depression. Does being
with someone sadden you? Do you feel like you don't get
out and do things like you use to? Has someone or something disappointed you deeply in the recent past?
This questions are why you should check with your doctor.

hey seriously - get your thyroid levels checked by your doctor.
