Anyone else out there dealing with a borderline personality disorder (BPD) paren!

Question: Just wondering how prevalent this is.

I have recently discovered some literature that descibes how a BPD parent (mother, in particular) treats her children - and there are alot of stories in there that I could have written myself.

If you have dealt with this - do you stay in contact with your parent?

I've had to cut ties because of her continued abuse and am wondering if there is any hope for a relationship in the future or if this is pretty much how it's going to be...

I think the key here is that regardless of how you are related, or not related for that matter, this person thinks they can lash out and abuse you in whatever form he or she chooses.
I'm dealing with a partner who is horribly verbally abusive - I cannot bear it anymore and won't. He is sick to say what he does. Yet, he is nice and smooth with people on the street or acquaintances at work etc.
Why people are selective in their abuse, saving it for the ones who love them the most and do the most for them is beyond my power to answer.
Until your mother gets help and this disorder under control, sadly, that is the way it will be or worse. You don't deserve it and it will eventually destroy your personality and spirit, putting up with hate from another person.
Good luck to you and be strong.

it all depends, try to stay happy and not bug her... maybe things will change?

Not all parents with BPD are abusive.
