PTSD ??? Whats going on with me???!

Question: Hello and thanks for checking this out. I've been to Iraq twice now, and have been in some sticky situations over there. I'm now stationed in Europe and had a bad eppisode about this time last year. I was walking into the Commissary and someone off in the distance ignited a huge fire work. I stoped in my tracks and froze, I did not know what to do. Every sticky situation that I was in, in Iraq seem to go rushing through my head all at once, and I started to cry. I think the biggest thing that scared me was the fact that I did not know what to do when the fire work went off. I went to the military docs and all I got out of that was that I don't drink enough alcohol to have ptsd, not that I want ptsd. I have my share of bad dreams, I even woke up one night and was in the process of breaking my wife's arm, thank God I woke up when I did. I have been in my car and ducked below the dash about three times due to two fire works and a truck tire blow out. I've been very depressed latly. Thanks

You need to be reevaluated. Alcohol has nothing to do with PTSD. You are showing all of the symptoms of it. If your mental health department won't help you go and get an appointment with the hospital commander. Explain the situation with him and do it calmly and with respect. Ask him what you should do.

Read up on the disorder by clicking the link I gave you. I am a PTSD veteran. Get that into your active duty records as fast as you can. It will get you medically retired and will also allow you to receive VA benefits along with TriCare.

wow, maybe you're just mentally unstable

alcohol? i dont drink alcohol and i have ptsd! they have nothing to do with each other. see a GP or a mental health proffessional, it sounds a lot like you have it. the help is out there mate, go get it before things get worse. you're not alone!

I would see about seeing a doctor off base if you can. it does sound like ptsd to me and if they keep you going the way they are it could result in your death or you hurting someone else simple because of what you do. I applaud you for keeping our country safe but I think it's time that you let the others in the military take over. I'd hate to loose a nother soldier (I use the term loosely because you just said you were in the military and not what part of the military) over something that can be prevented by medication or some one a little more stable taking your place. it could cause long term mental issues. I've seen it my uncle was in a war I'm not sure which one I never really asked but he was discharged due to ptsd and got help and never had any issues after that until last year during the 4th he just freaked out we had gone to a large fire works display insted of doing a small one out the house and for some reason the louder fire works seemed to have an effect on him. good luck. to you and god bless.

Wow? U dont drink enough to have ptsd? Go to a different doctor please! Thats ridiculous! I have had ptsd, although i was not in the military, ptsd can be caused by multiple traumatic events, or even just one. it is common to have depression with it. Please seek counceling, look for a different doctor! Perhaps you could search the web and educate yourself with other people who are going through the same thing. Hang in there and dont give up.
