Bipolar disorder is this related?!

Question: I have this need to help other people work through their problems. but usually it comes in phases and once i feel that I've helped that person I fell godd about it for a few days then I go in to a deep depression. It starts out as a high like I get excited and talk alot can't sleep then it turns to sleeping to much can't get out of bed forget to bath and brush my teeth and so on. I have 2 children and I can't just lay around all the time what can I do. usually the people I try to help are people that have similar issues to what I've already dealt with in my life could this be a part of my bipolar disorder? I'm pretty sure the highs and lows are but what about the rest? if you don't think so what do you think could be the cause of this?

I live with bipolar and I too have the exact same symptom. I have an overwhelming need to help people and get very caught up in it. When its over then I feel useless and also have major lows. Im kind of used to it now as are my supporters so they dont come to me as much with things they think i'll get swept up in. Hope this helps you feel abit more normal. Take care hun xxxx

Have you been diagnosed with BiPolar Disorder, or are you thinking you might have it?
Either way, the best thing to do is seek Professional Help and get stable.
If you do a search on BiPolar, you can learn a lot about it, and how to live with it.
Unfortunately, it is a life-long disease, so if you have it you're going to have to live with it forever.
But the best thing you can do to hinder the extreme highs and lows without meds is to be on a steady schedule, stay away from drugs and alcohol, get support from you family and try and motivate youself when you're depressed. Set goals for yourself. When you're Manic, try and find a hobby to keep yourself occupied. There's a lot of material out there to help your family understand what you're going through and how to help.
As far as helping people goes, I can't say for sure either way, but it could be a sign of Mania, in the sense that when someone is Manic, they feel that they can solve the worlds problems, and that they're good at everything.

I'm not a medical professional. Honestly this cycle seems like it has more of a self esteem component that triggers mood swings to me. You help go high, then swing low and desire the high round and round.

Please get yourself evaluated for a hormonal imbalance and assuming you see someone about bipolar disorder explain this process to them. Many hormonal issues can cause the same highs and lows you assign to bipolar disorder. If you combine self esteem and hormones this can be a viscious cycle.

Best of luck!
