Cutting I know it's not normal to do it but is it something that adults do t!

Question: I started cutting when I was 14 and thenI stopped when I was 16. everything was fine until I was 21(august 2007) and I started doing it again and it's not something that you can just stop it's like I have to do it. almost like a drug addiction in the respect that the more you do it the more you have to do it. It started with just one time a had a really stressful day and then a week later I did it again because something else happened then it was an everyday thing. So I went to a a theripist and while going over medical history I mentioned it to him and he said okay well stop doing it. don't you think your a little old to be doing that it's kind of childish. so my question to you is as an adult do you cut or do you know someone who is an adult who is a cutter? please know that I'm not asking so that I can feel okay about doing it myself I mean it has been a while since I've done it. I usually only do it when I'm really down.

You definately need to seek help elsewhere. You went there for therapy not judgement and to hear the therapists personal opinions about your problems. I would also file a formal complaint against the therapist because that kind of comment is not only un warranted but extremely unprofessional. Yes I know of adults who cut. My bestfriend cuts and she cuts bad. She is almost 30. I have never heard a doctor making those types of comments toward her. Its a compulsive behavior and its not limited to certain age groups. Your therapist sounds retarded.

every one does it but you really shouldnt cut your self think about the positive stuff about you

(soz if thats not wat our talking about.)

i also does it!!!when i was high school it s normal, just for fun! but give limit on it okey!!!

Seek professional help. It is not normal to hurt yourself.

No, they have found other ways to handle their stress.

it doesnt matter how old u are that therapist is just a prick. it wasnt very professional like for them to say that. they r there to help you not to tell u to stop doing it. thats wat parents r for

im 18 and i cut. i know (from the hospital i was in) many adults who cut. it isnt as commen, and they hide it better and yes, many learn other coping strategies. but i know a woman who is 56 years old, and she is still cutting. its not childish to cut. children dont cut, young people mostly do, but kids are too young to understand. (and thats coming from someone who was self harming at age 6. but i was too young to know to cut.

i think therapist are stupid GROW UP blah blah blah
mine said that and im still pissed though im not 21
