Please help!!(anxiety)?!


Question: hey there, I have been having a very high amount of social anxiety lately, as much as sometimes i wake up in the morning with my stomach really upset, making some really weird noises. it sometimes gets so bad i just really don't want to go to school, and i am sometimes so anxious that i can't, just wondering, has anyone ever heard of this kind of thing?

This, believe it or not, is very common and is becoming more like the norm than an oddity. Our schools are becoming less friendly and more stressful for the students and teachers too. Also, being a teen, which I'm assuming you are, is extremely difficult. You've got pressures and chaos that your parents can't imagine. It's no wonder that suicide, cutting, addiction and truency, plus teen gang affiliation is increasing at alarming rates. So, please don't think you're odd or alone. You're probably sensitive, which in my book is a good thing, I mean who wants to be insensitive? You're aware of what's going on and your nervous system is trying to tell you that your environment is too much for you to handle - without help.

Talk to a counselor, ask your parent to get you to see your doctor, get a therapist. You might be prescribed medication which wil help you learn how to get through those panics.

Exercise is very important because it will balance out hormonal levels which affect moods.

Avoid caffine drinks, those "energy" drinks. If you're an introvert, like me (introverts are cool), then you've got to know that we're more sensitive to chemicals in our bodies, and caffine, taurine, ginseng, are all bad for us.

Cigarette smoking also increases anxiety levels and smokers have friends who are high-anxiety, drama, chaos addicts.

Choose healthy ways of living and you'll feel the benefits. And get help because anxiety disorders can often lead to more problematic issues if left untreated.

your not pregnant right? lol, i got my social anxiety when i became pregnant, it hasn't gone away since. its agoraphobia. best of luck! i suffer from it so i have definately heard of it. I cant go into malls or shopping it effects my life.

Yes, I have it. Your health can be affected by this. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help. I used to do that and am thinking about going back. With effort and support you can get better.

yes, i used to have very bad social anxiety.
except, mine was with phones.
even if i had to, i could not call people.
i would cry daily because i felt terrible.
i eventually had to be put on a medication called paxil, and i am feeling much much *much* better now.

yea when i was in a different school this year for the first semester i hated going so much id go to closets and sleep, or once i was there i would skip...(10th grade)...but i switched schools now so i duno. but my stomach never really did anything wierd like that. people at the school must be affecting you pretty badly, i know they were for me.

Yes and there are a lot of different options that you have. Medication is not for every one but you can type in Anxiety and get some different ways of how to deal with these things. Anxiety is tough. You may want to go to the doctor and talk with them about different options on how to control your anxiety. Good luck. And hang in there. It will all be okay!!!!
