Depression and Panic Disorder?!

Question: SO i have been taking my meds like religiously as prescribed on a daily basis; and things have gotten better; but i still have panic attacks at times. Should I be on a higher does; I mean I have been on this for 7 weeks and things seem to be going alright; except for the occasional panic attack; or should I continue to give the medicine a little more time to get into my body?

I'd say you're fine on the dose you have now. You should also be in therapy - CBT will help you diffuse your panic attack before it happens, or lessen the panic when one hits. Definitely find a therapist that specializes in that. Then, you might even be able to lower your dose of meds. :)

I have the same problem. I have been taking my meds for 3 months now. The panic attacks have gotten better, but I still have one occasionally. It is not somethng that the medicine will not make go away completely. you have to learn to control it when it happens. It sucks, but, what else can you do?

Most meds are supposed to take full effect in 6 to 8 weeks. If you are still uncomfortable after 8 weeks, I'd talk to your dr. After 26 years of depression and anxiety, I've finally found a counselor who teaches me different ways to handle anxiety attacks. Now, 15 minutes is the longest they last. They say the attacks won't ever go away completely but they can go from every day to two or three times a year with meds and therapy. I hope you feel better soon and kudos on having patience.

You know the answer to this......
Give it some more time...like, 12 weeks. And don't change anything untill you've seen your doctor. You say you admit it's getting better..... Give it it's due time and remember that nothing is 100%

What are you taking? Is it prozac? If you are you should give a lil more time I am taking 20 ml and they doing real good. You should talk to your doctor about maybe a higher dose if its to low. You'll be alright just give it time!

I don't think anyone should be living with a disorder of any knid. I also think that a disorder in the body can be cured, you should not have to be living on meds. here are my suggestion find a natural cure doctor and he will help you by detoxing you body of invironmental polution and toxins. after that he should put you on some nutrition juices. like mongosteen and noni. try that please, and get better so you can advise others.

I am a big fan of not only being medicated but working consciously on the issue. Try some CBT classes and or go to a councilor to learn how to manage your anxiety. Just being medicated is masking your symptoms. If for some reason you have to come off the meds and you have not learned to deal with your symptoms you are never going to me able to. CBT or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is a wonderful way of learning your triggers and how to get yourself either to stay in the middle ground rather than going into full blown anxiety, or learning how to work through the anxiety so you can get back to your baseline state more quickly! You could also try Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. It is a little more intense than CBT where you learn mindfulness etc. I wish you luck.
