Herbal medicines are still chemicals...they work because of active chemicals within the herbs. Willow bark for example, people worked out that chewing on this eased headaches...the bark contains a chemical that we now call aspirin.

And just because it's a herb, and contains natural rather than synthesised ingredients, doesn't mean there won't be any side effects or risk of addiction. Cannabis for example...it's a natural plant but addictive.

However, that said I have taken herbal anti-anxiety medicine before (such remedies usually contain a mixture of gentian, valerian, hops, passionflower and possibly st johns wort) and never had trouble with side effects or addiction. Such remedies are often quite mild as they don't contain concentrated amounts of the active ingredients.

the thing about herbals is that they are not FDA approved. they are not proven to work or checked for safety. it's difficult to say what could happen, it all depends on what's in them (and they usually don't list all of the ingredients). they could potentially be dangerous. remember, when you go to the doc and they ask about medicaitons, be sure to tell them you're taking this as well.

too be honest, i dont know! but you also have to think.. Tabacco, marijuana, pompi (however u spell it) is all natural too! they are all addictive and pretty bad!!
