Bullying talk?!

Question: at school today my form teacher was talking about bullying and its forms (e.g mental-rumours, physical-punching etc) anyway, it brought back memories of when people were bullying me. not physically harming me, but they were excluding me, spreading rumours about me and talking about me behind my back.

she will probably continue this discussion with us tomorrow, how do i stop myself getting all emotional?

There's really no way to stop yourself from being emotional if those memories hurt you. When you start feeling emotional, you can reassure yourself that those times are past, and you don't need to worry about them. Think about good things that have happened to you instead.

Also, remember that this kind of bullying never goes away: in your future life, in your workplace, you will meet people who feel it is okay to emotionally bully people. When this happens, just remember that those people aren't happy with themselves if they have to sink to those kind of levels. Just be happy with who you are, and forget them.

talk to her...tell her you dont like the topic and if you could be excused from her class

you've overcome those issues when from the past.
you're better than that now!
just focus on where you are now....

but if you keep getting really teary eyed -
i guess think of something else when she's talking...

wow, i had the exact same problem;
you could ask the teacher if you could sit out or go to the counselors office and talk about it :)

i'm going through the same situation kinda

were learning bout that in r.e

i just try and keep all my thoughts in breath in and stuff

its far worse getting bullyed by verbal cos ..well no words can really explain what i went through

the thing is

i still am

Everyone gets bullied in school. And sometimes are the bullies themselves without noticing. I should know i've been the new kid/Big Guy since I was 9. And the best way to not get emotional is do what everyone else is doing to the teacher, don't listen. It works for me.

Talk about it with her privately first, get an idea of what she will be discussing in her itenerary for this subject, she could probably arrange it so you don't have to be there for all of it and excuse you from the class for some unknown reason. I have had cool teaches like that.

Daydream and don't listen to her, but look towards her direction, think of something else and blank out everything she says

does she know this happened to you...maybe you should tell her so she knows.....i was bullied as a kid too...it is so cruel..i am a mom of 6 and i can tell you my kids never done this to anyone...because i would never allow it....hang in there...always remember you are better than they are...if the teacher knows maybe you can distract yourself by doodling or something and not get into trouble.....ask her....good luck

It sounds like it would be good for you to share it with her, and maybe the rest of the class as well. Sometimes people don't know that they are hurting people, and they might have forgotten all about it. But if you share the experience, your class would have a better understanding of how mean it is.

i don't think theres much you can do about that situation. i would just suggest you continue to look after yourself.

think of it this way:it is all part of your past now...time to move one... :)
