How do YOU deal with big life changes that you have no control over?!

Question: What are your coping techniques for major life changes. I like to excercise to release stress. Meditation is good too, and keeping busy helps. Any other suggestions that work for you?

i have tremendous faith in the supernatural force which i term god.for me this force though "formless" gives me lot of spiritual energy to cope with things over which i have no control! just leave urself to this force.u will also feel its presence.i have felt its presence whenever i have been in "crisis".

I tend to focus on the things associated with this major life change that I do have control over.

One day at a time and lots of distractions. And realizing that nothing is permanent except death and taxes.

I "forget" about bad embarassing things usually,by that I mean push them out of my mind; if its something big though and I didnt have control of it, I acknowledge that fact, I think to myself, will crying, worrying or complaining improve the situation and it doesnt. I also like to think that only a select few know about this problem so the guy walking his dog down the street next to me has no idea, and this is conforting too. I also like to exercise and listen to music.

well Ive never really dealt well with change & I get fustrated when I have no control over it, but what helps me cope is entertaining myself or in other words keeping myself busy. I like to watch upbeat movies that make me laugh, or I love going to work. Another thing is taking a nice, long, hot bubble bath. Since I dont have the beach anymore to help me relax. I gotta look for alternatives.

I usually try to make the best of it. Chages are good and in one way or another YOU always know to deal with it.

The best way I know how........ Also prayer works for me and I know thats not the "cool" thing and I probably get a lot of thumbs down because everyone on here is about 11 yrs old but u asked for what works

one day at a time.. right my thoughs and feeliongs down

You just have to realize that our life is one big long journey and you will eventually get through.

My faith is one of my biggest coping techniques. In major life changes I try to stay focused on the positive and if there are none at the time I truly believe something good would come out of it.No use worrying over something that I have no control over so I just give it up to God.

Say you were moving, I would tell myself I would see my friends again. True as it may or may not be that is one way of coping. Besides, you always make more friends. If someone were dying, I would say to myself after they have died that they are not suffering anymore and are with loved ones that passed on before her.

live one day at a time
try not to worry about what coulda, woulda, shoulda
tomorrow will have it's own set of worries... and if youre religious turn your worries to your higher power as you know them... such as let go and let God.
if your not religious... write your worries in a journal, it helps to. there are also books available for how to deal with stress, just check out your local library.

don't forget that there's nothing so bad that it can't get better.
