I have had trouble sleeping and I have also have a low appetite?!

Question: For the past four days I have been having these symptons. Every night I try to go to sleep. I then do but then wake up about 10 to 30 minutes later. When I do wake up I can't go back to sleep for at least 30 minutes. When I eat I am not that hungry and when I do eat I feel like throwing up. With the sleep part I have tried everything: sleeping pills, soft music, lots of exercise, and etc. I don't know what else to do. Another thing also is that I am only 14 years old. I feel ashamed and embarrased to say anyhting to my parents. PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!

Your syptoms are consistent with Depression. Sometimes depression stems from underlying anxiety or just the opposite. Anxiety symptoms can lead to or blossom into Major Depression. You shouldn't worry about telling the people who love you. If you do it in a mature manner, they will respect you for it. Tell them that you are having problems sleeping and eating and it is interfering with your school work. Then tell them you researched these symptoms and found it could be depression. Then ask them if it would be alright to see a Psychiatrist. They will be proud of you and make you an appointment. Good luck!

Sounds like anxiety to me. You shouldn't feel ashamed to say anything to your parents, but maybe you should talk to the school counselor first. Or someone older and more experience.

everything that you have described are symptoms of depression...if this continues you need to see a dr. don't feel ashamed to tell anyone...this is more common than you know...tell folks and get help to deal with it....

this could be a mental issue, but to me it actually sound like IBS. i have IBS and i to have trouble sleeping and i have a very low appetite. before this started happening, did you enjoy eating or even eat when you were bored? that was the biggest tip for me that something was wrong. i would always eat when i was bored; and now since i have had this problem i have to force myself to eat and i can't eat that much without feeling like i need to throw up. don't be ashamed of this. if that is infact what you have, about 20% of kids have IBS. that doesn't sound like alot, but it is. have your parents take you to a gastroenterologist [which is a doctor who specializes in intestines and what not]. if they find out its not IBS then i'd say go see a therapist.

this could also be depression or anxiety, but for some reason IBS is just standing out in my mind.

good luck!
