Why am I crying?????!

Question: I'm a 43 yr. old female I've been divorced 25 yrs. I've just recently had a breakup with a boyfriend, I was with for 9 mths. I was just crazy about him. Since then, I find myself crying every day, I am so emotional about everything. And very cranky. One minute I'm crying and the next I'm mad at the world. I don't want to take antidepressents, I've taken several over the yrs. and don't like the side effects. I'm wondering if it's hormones or depression? I just feel lost these days!!!! And I'm so tired of crying. Any advice????

you could be going thru menopause and the hormones fluctuating could make you very moody. if you don't want to take meds... then meditate and focus on the here and now... don't worry about the future because it hasn't come and don't worry about the past because you can't change it. remind yourself everyday in the mirror what an amazing person you are and say it out loud if you have to. when you feel down, call a friend, you guys can rationalize the situation together. starting a journal may also help relieve some of the stress you have... write it out and let it go. and if you're religious remember that everything has already been planned out for you, so you may not not what's going to happen today, but you know who made it happen.... let go and let God, give your higher power his or her power back and realize that you can't change things you have no control over. recite the serenity prayer to keep you in the moment....
God grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, to change the things i can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Repeating little quotes like that will help you put everything into perspective and bring you back to the moment that you are living in
hope this helps and keep your head up.

chill!!

this could be just your loneliness at 43. a lot of emotions are hitting you at once. you need to take it back a few notches and calm down. try to get a grip on yourself and call a friend so you can have company and just let it all out and talk about all of this with someone who cares. if you feel that a lot of depression is chemical then take meds too. reflect with a girlfriend who loves you.

You experienced a breakup, which is very painful. It's ok to cry. Really try to keep yourself busy when you start to feel down. Just know that these feelings are temporary and will get better over time. I don't blame you for not wanting to take antidepressants, I hate the side effects too. Maybe get a makeover. Go get a nice haircut and maybe buy a new outfit. Call up a friend and see if they want to go out and do something. Don't sit around and do nothing when you feel bad. Go outside, get some fresh air and just stay positive. It's ok to be single. Take some time for yourself. Good luck- Turn that frown upside down! :)

Two things here are going on!!!! ONE you're not allowing yourself to grieve the break up of the relationship!!! That will take time!! As for not taking depressants there are times when You have to try more than one or two to find the one that works for you. I've had to try several over the years to find one that truly works with my brain chemistry. You need to give your self time to get over the break up and you need to think about getting some help before this develops into a deep depression. That might be even harder to get out of.
