I'm going to see a psychologist tomorrow ?!

Question: Ok, I'm going to see a psychologist tomorrow because I think I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder which makes me worry about stupid things and I have panic attacks.

What should I tell the psychologist when I see him/her ? Should I just could out with it straigh or beat around the bush ?

You should tell the phychologist exactly what is going on with you. That's the only way they can help you. Don't be afraid or ashamed to tell them anything. Remember you are not telling them anything they haven't heard before or aren't trained to take care of. Don't leave anything out. Explain to them exactly how you feel and I am sure they will be able to help you. Good luck tomorrow.

Be absolutely straight as a rake...tell it like it is, otherwise what he/she says won't help you.

Be completely straight with him,he cant help you if he dont know everything.

Here's my advice. You dont get much time with these people so be 100% honest and tell them what troubles you most.

If I was you I would write a list tonight of the things that worry you most, cos I bet if you dont youll walk out of appointment tomorrow having forgotten to mention something!

I would be as open and honest as possible, so you get the best care possible. Withholding information concerning your problems will not help you.

well i use to be indecisive but am not sure now, tell them the truth

Be straight forward, your being charged per hour.

As a first appointment the psychologist should guide the conversation in order to get an idea of why you want to go into therapy. She/He should take a complete medical history as well as a psychiatric history. He/She should ask about mental illness and addictions with in the immediate and extended family. You should also expect the therapist to want to know what you think of the situation that has lead you to them. They will want to know if any thing has happened in the last couple of months that might have precipitated what ever has happened.

No point in beating around the bush. Just tell everything to give him/her the best chance of helping you. Good luck. It'll do you good to get things that are bothering you out in the open.

Tell him/her straight about your anxieties.

Be really straight to the point and tell them everything, otherwise they won't understand the full extent of the problems and won't be able to help you as effectively as they might if they knew the whole story.
I know it's very difficult. I always feel a bit intimidated myself when I see psychiatrists, and in the past I've 'held back' in sessions, only to regret it later when I realise that my reticence might've caused the psychiatrist to under-estimate the symptoms.
So my advice would be to be as straight as you can, and don't at all beat around the bush.
Good luck.

come straight out and tell. the point is to get help if there is a problem. the less you beat around the bush the quicker you can settle your anxiety problems.

ps i think that this great that you are doing this

Although it's hard if you really want to solve things and get better then you have to just be totally straight, they are not mind readers as some people think lol ! and they are there to help you. It can be very scary to talk to them and you may clam up when you get there, I always go in with the intention I'll tell them this and this but when I get there I don't have the words. Good luck xx
