Question: My galfriend and I are dating for 3 weeks now and she had told me that she has bipolar and she see's a counslor for it because of the lost of her mother. My question is people that have bipolar what is that exactly? What advice would you give me to help my galfriend? Should I worry about her?

I'd do some research on it (as you are doing) and if she wants to talk about it, talk about it. She is probably liking you and wants to be honest with you so you don't get more serious and she has this big secret (which is how it feels if you are bipolar) and feels guilty about it. Otherwise, I wouldn't treat it any different than if she had a chronic backache or anything else. If she gets moody, give her a break, is all I would say. Ladies get moody anyhow, so it's good practice for a guy.

So I would say, don't worry, if she is getting help for it, she is doing fine. It's people who don't get help for it that usually have the worst trouble. And don't get too involved with it if you are only casually dating, it's a medical problem.

Try google.....

she was honest and seeking help. if you really care for her, then support her and look up info on the Internet that will explain to you what is happening to her.

just being very loving and supportive. that helps a lot

I have bipolar disorder. Please don't treat her like theres something very wrong with here - in a condensed form it basically means on and off she gets very energy filled and happy in a sense, and then drops to a tired, sluggish feeling, then back up again. These waves can happen at random intervals, when young, they can happen in days, when older, months.

Its a mental disorder. It used to be called Manic depression (meaning its a kind of depression).

Basically somone who has this disorder is usually very up when they are up, and when they are down they are very down and could be suicidal.

I suggest you talk to her and listen to her. If you are more interested, you can do some personal research.
