Can you take Adderall 5 mgs four times a day?!

Question: I was diagnosed with ADHD, 3 years, I'm now trying medicine to help the situation. The Dr. prescribed me 10 mgs of Adderall twice a day, but I feel its a bit strong, so I thought lets break it up into 4 times a day, with 5 mg tablets. Is this going to kill me? Has anyone done this?

It is not like you have to make sure you get your 20mg in to keep up a regimen. Just try taking 1/2 a pill (5mg) instead of a whole pill twice a day. If 5mg can give you the positive effects (attention control, impulse control, etc.) and reduce the negative effects (loss of appetite, nervous feeling, etc.) then you have found a good dosage. Take the least amount that helps.

The way this med works with its half-life and mixture of amphetamine salts, I think spreading it out into 4 dosages will not achieve your goal of taking the edge off, maybe for the first few hours but you will likely be taking the last pill too late and not being able to sleep and may be without the positive effects too so that won't be any good. I have never taken another dose before the halflife of the first dose has run out so I don't know what that will do.

That aside, you should never UP your dosage of this stuff without talking to a doctor and getting their OK.

To counter the above answers: ADHD does exist, I have it and my wife will vouch for it; Regular Adderall can be cut (I don't konw about extended release); Yes, you should check with your pharmacist and/or doctor about stuff like this...I can't deny that that is always good advice.

Call your pharmacist and ask. Don't rely on Yahoo Answers for such an important question.
Also, some pills are not made to be cut or altered. It can change the way your body breaks it down. Yet another reason to call the pharmacist or your doctor for clarification.

no, I was prescribed ridellan when I was a teenager, it is strong at first though, you get the shakes, you are super quite, you feel weird....that feeling will only last about 2 weeks, but if it helps you to take it at different times then that's fine. If you are scared call your doctor and the nurse will get on the phone and she will tell you if that's okay. But I suggest to just wait it out a little bit and then you wont feel so weird in a few weeks.

its not good period. and adhd doesn't exist btw..

have you ever seen a cat on speed? I have its NOT pretty, so why would you wana take it?

o and btw riddalin is speed

you can, i used to take a couple thirties a day....

now, please stop taking adderall, find yourself a natropath who can actually help you -- not just some MD who's a pawn to the drug companies, most ADD/ADHD is misdiagnosed and can be fixed by simply changing your diet!

that should be fine, my brother takes 20mg pills 3 times a day.
