Should I talk to my dad or my school councler regarding the following situation?!

Question: I'm a very depressed, negative fourteen year old who cuts herself. My best friends in the whole wide world just described me as "mean and negative" ok so I get it. I need help. I'm actually crying right now. I have to talk to someone to get my life straightened out. I admit it. anyway. I'm way to scared to talk to my dad because last time I was cutting he yelled at me and made me feel even worse. I'm thinking about going to the guidance counsler because maybe he understands it more and can explain to my dad wht's going on so i dont get yelled at. So who should I go to first? Dad or Counsler?

Some people just don't understand, and that isn't going to help your situation. I suggest you see a counselor. It's very hard to get some people under stand mental health issues because it's not tangible. You wouldn't yell at someone with cancer, would you? It could possibly scare your dad, because he can't comprehend it. Don't push the issue with him yet. I suggest you see a counselor asap! Nip it in the bud. Tell someone who understands the dynamics of depression. Hope things get better for you.

Go to a counselor first, and they can help you figure out how to approach your dad. Good luck and hang in there!

go to your dad believe me in expirenced the same thing over the summer dont talk to the counsler they tend to not understand u can talk to me if u want im 14

Go to the guidance counselor. You are probably depressed and need medication to feel better and to stop cutting yourself. Let him explain it to your father. Depression is genetic so there was someone else in your family who had the same problem

I would say that if you don't feel comfortable talking to your dad about the situation at hand..Talk to someone you trust..It can be anyone..No only a guidance counsler...You need help and you've admited that much..Now the problem is who to talk to about it..I say anyone that you feel comfortable with..A nurse a teacher anyone..A close aunt, or uncle...Just please get help and as for your you friend..Or as you say your best friend..She can't be that great of a friend if she's going to say that kind of stuff about you..Just work on getting help first and then worry about what ever else may come your way..Good luck and God Bless.

I would go to your Dad and try to have an adult type conversation with him. Many companies have a number to call if you are needing that type support. Mine is called Carebridge. There are many out there and there may be one at your Dads work.

It sounds like you have made your plan -of speaking to the counselor first -then hopefully he can help you speak to you Dad again. It's scary to trust people but it sounds like you have the courage to do it and the pain to drive you to do it.
I hope it goes well .

Cutting is a sign of a very serious problem. If you decide ti talk to your counselor before you talk to your dad ,he(your counselor)will talk to your dad for you. It sounds like your dad really loves you and he probably doesn't know how to help you . Do not go to any classes tomorrow until you've talked to someone. Tell them this is an emergency, because it is. I was once a really screwed up girl and I could have saved myself-and everyone around me, a lot of grief if I had just asked for help instead of keeping it all to myself until it was almost too late. God bless you honey, I hope you take my advice. Get help as soon as possible.
