Everyone is different, but what is the Best and Worst anti-depressants you have !

Question: Wanting to start one just wanted some opinions...

Answers: Wanting to start one just wanted some opinions...

i was diagnosed with anxiety/depression when i was like 18. My doctor prescribed me with Zoloft and it did wonders. I believe i was on taking this medication for one year, which at this point i was fully treated, and gradually tapered off from this med. I am now 22, and i still continue to have these episodes of feeling anxious but for the most part im fine.

cymbalta made me really frustrated and pissy. it gave me headaches and made my jaw clench constantly.

Best - Effexor. I took it when I was younger and was the only thing that actually worked for me. But only for a short period of time.

Worst - Lexapro. Made me suicidal, started cutting again, and hallucinating. The ceiling tried to eat me, it totally did! I knew it wasn't real but that isn't a normal experience for me.

Best- Prozac
Worst- Wellbutrin, it made me sick and did nothing for the depression

The worst is Paxil and prozac both of them, started causing stomach troubles a couple of weeks after I was on them. (Not at the same time. ) The best was suggested by my 82 year old friend who is a psychiatrist. It's called mirtazapine,-- 45 mg. No side effects, always take with food, as with any drug. I had a lot of stress because my mom got very ill, and it REALLY helped with depression. Best wishes to you....Niki

Anti-depressants are all "worst". They mess with your neurochemistry hard-core. If you are looking to fry your brain & have all sorts of bizarre & possibly irreversible side-effects, try Effexor. It almost killed my cardiovascular function. Prozac was pretty great, too. Made me a shell of my former self & gave my hand a very attractive tremor. Oh how about Neurontin?! That was great when my brain would feel like it was shorting out & I'd forget where I was & what I was doing! I just love giving my body poisonous shite to handle on top of whatever it is that's REALLY wrong to make me feel like I need to pop psychiatric medications.

I've only tried Prozac. COMPLETELY USELESS!!! Plus the doctor had prescribed a triple dose because of my binge eating. It made me so worse, I eneded up gaining like 40 pounds and my depression became much worse. I stopped it and opted for therapy... Much better!
