Answers: And what are your rituals, compulsions, obsessions, and thoughts?
DEEP. i have had ocd since I was 7. I'm 44 now. the thoughts that keep coming. the intrusive thoughts. having to do simple silly things so bad things won't happen. intense thinking is a constant. germs have freeked out my eating habits to the point of me not having ate meat or products for 22 years and i gave up all kinds of dairy 12 years ago. i have gotten a pretty good grip on it now. you can email me if you want to describe some deep symptoms you have with it , if you have it. mine gets much deeper. so deep that I could make it to china. a lot of ocders may be too shamed to answer this. HERES HOW I CONTROL IT. keep stress down always. 100 mgs of luvox cut my symptoms by 70%. learn to ignore the compulsions and the intensity gets less severe. no drugs or alcohol. more help just email me. touching rituals i have learned to do them in my mind.
go to a psychiatrist, and get on a med to help you slow that thinking patterning down and think of having some therapy.
It's really hard to deal/cope with my ocd at times, sometimes its better and others it's just a living hell!!!!!!! but I'm taking Prozac hope it helps!!!!!!!! i guess that's kind of one way to cope !!!! other thing i do is just resist doing the rituals, ur anxiety will go up, but it will eventually decrease, this process is call habituation!!!! it's part of behavioral therapy for ocd, when u resist doing it ull get really anxious but u'll eventually forget about it, and wonder why where u even gonna don it!!!! some of the obsessions i do is like if i don't do this something bad will happen to my mom, and i don't do this other thing i will bring bad luck to myself!!!!! and a lot of other obsessions!!! like sexual obsessions !!!!rituals i do is like touching things repeatly, and just doing thing all over and over, and again some other rituals!!!!!!! hope this helps!!!! but it's not like horrible i guess it could be worse!!! just hang in there!!!!!!!!!!! i guess i have ocd since i was like 9 now i'm 17!!!!! oh and i recommend u read freedom from obsessive compulsiv disorder!!!
I give in to most of them... or avoid my triggers. But mine are very minor obsessions.
My hands always feel dirty. For years now, I carry around a container of Cottonelle hand wipes which I pour rubbing alcohol into for disinfectant purposes. I almost ALWAYS have a wipe in my hand, but I'm very discreet. I don't like making people uncomfortable, so I don't actually wipe off my hands unless I can do so without drawing attention to myself (unless of course I literally get something on my hands, and then I'm still low key about getting it off).
I can't eat what I or my children cook because our dishes or the kitchen itself are never clean enough in my opinion and I worry that the food has spoiled. So, personally, I eat canned or boxed foods or I eat out. Currently, I'm trying to lose weight so I'm living off of rice cakes lol. I've lost almost 10 pounds in about a month.
The biggest way my OCD manifests itself is through my racing thoughts. I'm a [defeated] perfectionist. Before meds and diligent self-discipline I would run possible/probably scenarios and conversations through my mind practically 24/7.
