How do you calm your mind when you are thinking repetitive thoughts?!


Question: I had an interaction with a person yesterday that did not go well. There is nothing to be done about it and I can not change what happened. I also can not stop thinking about it. Has this ever happened to you and how do you calm your mind?

yeah it always happens to me. u have to train yourself to not think about negative things. it never helps. it only hurts us and makes us suffer more. just yell to yourself and say stop it!! and make yourself stop thinking about bad stuff. or keep yourself active. do something fun after something bad happens so when ur active u don't have time to think. you can excercise too.

keep counting really fast ? or think of something that you would like to do maybe you like fishing or something then do that o.o

Story of my life. What I found works best is try reading a good book, or something that takes a lot of concentration. That way if your concentrated on a good story or something, you won't be stressing about stuff you can't change. Good luck =]

If you are feeling angry/frustrated about the encounter, writing your thoughts on paper, can get it out of your mind.

YES WE ALL HAVE DONE THIS ,, I JUST WEN THEW THIS ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND, I COULDN'T LET IT GO , AND I WAS UPSET FOR AWHILE BECAUSE THE PEOPLE I HAD IT OUT WITH WAS A NEIGHBOR, AND SHE WAS RUDE AND A BIG MOUTH RAN HER MOUTH AND ROLLED HER HEAD AROUND , I JUST WALKED IN MY HOUSE AND CLOSED THE DOOR , AND IF SHE WOULD HAVE HIT ME I WOULD HAVE GOT HER FOR ASSAULTED, YOU KNOW THAT THE BEST THING TO DO IS REMEMBER ITS DONE AND OVER AND YOU CANT CHANGE THE PAST, I ALWAYS CLEAN, TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT A FRIEND ARE RELATION , DON'T WALK UP TO A STRANGER AND START TELLING THEM YOUR WHOLE LIFE STORY,, YOUR STOP THINKING ABOUT IT IN DUE TIME ITS STILL FRESH TO YOU ,IT WILL PAST ,LIKE I SAID YOU CANT CHANGE THE PAST , NOW GO TAKE A HOT BATH AND READ A BOOK ARE CALL SOMEONE,,,

Focus on your breathing. For each inhale and exhale, count up to ten, starting at one. Once you get to ten, just start over, the idea is to keep it simple. Focus your mind completely on just inhaling and exhaling, and counting up to ten. Zen monks have been doing this for centuries, and it works. Hope it helps.
