Whenever I'm around people I don't know or big groups I feel all jumpy?!

Question: Like i need to know my surroundings. I'm always afraid of sitting around of a bunch of people standing. I'm always ready to fight, even when theres absolutely no threat. I don't like parties or big gatherings, unless I know EVERYONE. If someone suggests going somewhere where there is people I just get like depressed. Whats wrong with me?

It sounds like social anxiety to me. Almost everyone has it to a certain degree, but sometimes it can be crippling. There are medications for it, but a mental health professional might be able to suggest alternatives. Sometimes it's just a matter of conditioning; subjecting yourself to large groups for a certain time, until you get used to it. I know how you feel, though. There's plenty of times when the thought of a large crowd just makes me extremely nervous. A lot of times when I go to parties where I don't know many people, I'll stick with a friend or two for awhile, and then slowly start interacting with one or two people at a time, and I usually end up having a good time. Remember, the person next to you might be just as nervous as you.

that is called social anxiety and is fairly common.

social aniexty i have it can be ***** to deal with

a lot of people are like that its call flight or fight, and your not really in danger, i went thew the same thing wen i was young ,i couldn't sit with my back against the door and only way i felt all right if i drunk enough to take the edge off . but please don't do that, your best bet would to seek some therapy,,, wen i wised up and realized that alcohol wasn't the answer, it was something that you can over come,,, therapy is really good for it

SOCIAL ANXIETY: One solution is to go somewhere that nobody knows you, and deliberately make an utter fool of yourself: put on a paper hat, and scream out: "I'm queen/king of America!", or something else ridiculous, then get back in the taxi, (warn the driver of your intentions, first) or car, and leave. People will point, and say: "Look at that idiot". But, you're probably not up to the stage where you can do that, yet (I can, and I used to be shy). Regard it as your final test: once you have accomplished it, the barrier will be broken; just don't go too far, the other way! Learn to laugh at yourself, and give a big, cheesy grin when others see you do something foolish, as we all do, occasionally. It will endear others to you, if you don't do it too often. See social anxiety/shyness, and self confidence, in sections 9, and 38, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris Here is an exercise that can help you. It is called "Act as If." When you are in a social situation, act as if you are outgoing. Talk more, smile at everyone, ask questions, speak in a normal or excited tone, not a meek tone. Watch some of your outgoing peers, and imitate the style of their social behavior.

Research shows that when you "act as if" continually, your image of yourself begins to conform to your new behavior. In this case, you will gain self-esteem and self-confidence, and begin to see yourself as socially normal, not shy. You will become more socially successful, and this will motivate you to continue your new social behavior until it becomes a habit.

Try this for a month, in every situation you can. I am confident that you will become much more comfortable and outgoing.

you have social anxiety.
research it on google a little bit.
