Where do i go from here?!

Question: alright, heres my problem. basically i've been having panic attacks in PE. idk why, i just really am terrified of PE. i talk to my mom about going somewhere to get counseling and there is no way she is willing to do that. i think shes embarrassed to have a daughter with such a dumb phobia. she told me to get over it. thing is, she doesn't understand that its something i can't just make disappear. i want to talk to my school guidance counselor and see if there is any way i can get switched to study hall without getting failed in PE, or if she can somehow see me during my PE classes until i get over this and she can help me during that time. but at my school, my counselor tells the parents everything and i know she will tell my mom. that will just cause more problems. i'm not sure what to do. i am only 14 so it isn't like i can drive myself to a psychologist. any suggestions?

There's nothing wrong with going to your school counselor. Unless you are going to harm yourself or someone else, what you say to the guidance counselor is confidential and protected by law. Can you arrange to have another family member, like an aunt or someone, take you to counseling? If you can't afford it you might be able to get cheap or almost free counseling through your local hospital or health clinic. What you're experiencing might be a bonafide anxiety disorder that requires meds and counseling. It's commendable that you want counseling, and I strongly encourage it. You don't have to let fear take over your life.

suggestions:
deep breathing
consciously release the tension from your muscles
visualize something peaceful
allow your mind to wander
realize that this is temporary (when experiencing panic attacks)
find a safe outlet: journaling, art, scrapbooking, dance

Go to your counselor. Even if he/she tells your mother your mother cannot deny the counseling this would be medical neglect. Does this happen only in the gym or even when gym is out doors? If only inside it maybe the fluorescent lights...Have your mom and counselor read this article - there are more article available on the subject. http://www.nymegaphone.com/?q=node/7

Tell your Gyme teachers and your Counselor.
