Vistaril for anxiety?!
Question: What is the average dose of Vistaril for anxiety? I'm taking it for bladder inflamation (I have IC) but I also have an anxiety disorder too and thought about killing two birds with one stone. Right now I'm taking 25 mgs. It doesn't seem to have any effect on my anxiety...is it too low of a dose? I'm going to talk to my doc. Monday, I just wanted to know more about it...

I was prescribed Vistaril at 25mg about 2 years ago for anxiety. All it really does for me is make me sleep. I take it only when I absolutly have to and only at night so I can sleep when I am having anxiety. I filled my last prescription for 30 pills last May and still have about 15 left. It is not really suppose to be something you take on a regular schedule its more of a when you need it drug.
i've never heard of that drug for anxiety. i'm sure it is one but its probably not one of the best one's for anxiety. paxil, lexapro, effexor, zoloft, klonopin, valium and ativan are more common.
